2017, Microvascular ResearchCitation Excerpt :This result was in agreement with a previous report showing that l-arginine uptake to mitochondria was downregulated by nitric oxide synthase (NOS) inhibitor l-NMMA (Dolińska and Albrecht, 1998). Our results also revealed that treatment with NOS inhibitors (l-NAME and l-NMMA) decreased CAT-1 mediated [3H]l-arginine uptake (Fig. 3), in good agreement with previous report that l-NMMA inhibited transport of arginine via system y+ in porcine aortic endothelial cells and LPS-stimulated macrophages (Bogle et al., 1992; Baydoun and Mann, 1994). Our results suggested that NO production was reduced by l-NAME or l-NMMA (Fig. 5).
