Furthermore, if the tumor is primarily secreting epinephrine, an adrenal mass is much more likely; norepinephrine-secreting tumors can be either adrenal or extra-adrenal (most frequently abdominal).44 In sporadic PCCs, both tests identify tumors in patients with disease with high sensitivity because of moderate specificity secondary to the high prevalence of incidental adrenal nodules in the general population (~5%).45-47
