This induces the vascular permeability and smooth muscle contraction associated with acute allergic responses [1,4–7]. 2007, PlacentaCitation Excerpt :The initial transient, greatly exaggerated with lowered U46619-induced pre-tone, was abolished by H1-receptor blockade with mepyramine. These data are indicative of the presence of vascular smooth muscle H1-receptors in human chorionic plate arteries; contraction mediated via receptor-dependent mobilization of intracellular calcium [24]. We also demonstrated that H2-receptor blockade with famotidine was required to significantly inhibit the relaxatory phases of the response.
