Histamine in diabetes: Is it time to reconsider?
2016, Pharmacological ResearchCitation Excerpt :This respective study showed that the selective agonist immepip (PubChem CID 3035842) reversed formalin-induced hyperalgesia in both phases of the formalin test [87]. This effect could be associated with both H3R peripheral activation, resulting in a reduction in inflammatory peptides release, and H3R central activation, leading to the inhibition of pain transmission [8892]. Consistent with this theory, immepip (PubChem CID 3035842) was found to inhibit mechanical, not thermal sensitivity in rats, but was shown to affect neither mechanical nor thermal sensitivity in mice [93].
Sex- and afferent-specific differences in histamine receptor expression in vagal afferents of rats: A potential mechanism for sexual dimorphism in prevalence and severity of asthma
2015, NeuroscienceCitation Excerpt :This unique phenotype has many of the non-overlapping electrophysiological properties (Li et al., 2007, 2008; Li and Schild, 2007; Qiao et al., 2009, 2013; Han et al., 2014; Liu et al., 2015; Yan et al., 2015) and chemical sensitivities (Li and Schild, 2007; Li et al., 2013) of both myelinated A-type and unmyelinated C-type NGNs. The Ah-specific expression of H2R in adult female rats is likely the reason why most of studies have demonstrated that H2R is unrelated with the histamine-mediated functional modulation in vagal afferents in male species (Ichinose et al., 1989, 1990; Yoneda and Raybould, 1990; Delaunois et al., 1995; Jafri et al., 1997) except for a recent study showing a potential contribution of H2R to modulation of vagal afferent function using adult female SD rats (Edelsbrunner et al., 2009). Our results demonstrate the gender difference in H2R- and H3R-mediated vagal afferents functions.
Effects of histamine H3 receptors on chemical hyperalgesia in diabetic rats
2011, NeuropharmacologyCitation Excerpt :Previous studies have shown the existence of H3 receptors in the central nervous system as well as in the peripheral (Cannon et al., 2007; Pillot et al., 2002; Pollard et al., 1993). Activation of peripheral H3 receptors reduces the release of inflammatory peptides while activation of central H3 receptors inhibits pain transmission (Cannon et al., 2007; Delaunois et al., 1995; Imamura et al., 1996; Nemmar et al., 1999; Ohkubo et al., 1995). So, both peripheral and central H3 receptors may be involved in the effects obtained in the present experiments.
