Biomedical applications of radioiodinated peptides
2019, European Journal of Medicinal ChemistryCitation Excerpt :Leu4 in the bombesin scaffold was replaced by Tyr4, and the resulting radioiodinated peptide. [ 125I]-Tyr4-BBN, prepared by an oxidative method using chloramine-T, has been used at first to identify BBN receptors expressed on the central nervous system and in normal human pancreatic membranes (Table 5) [183–185] Reversible, saturable, and specific binding was also found on several human cancer cell lines such as pancreatic, small-cell lung and prostate PC-3 and DU-145 [183,186,187]. [ 125I]-Tyr4-BBN is still used nowadays as a reference tracer in competitive binding assays and other radiometric studies [188,189].
Theranostic Prospects of Gastrin-Releasing Peptide Receptor–Radioantagonists in Oncology
2017, PET ClinicsCitation Excerpt :Likewise, in 60% to 75% cases of primary breast cancer, the GRPR is expressed at high densities with the expression levels fully retained in all lymph-node metastases originating from GRPR-positive primaries, allowing for follow-up of disease spread.10,15,16 Other GRPR-positive cancers include lung cancer,17–21 gastrinomas,22 gastrointestinal stromal tumors,23 as well as ovarian cancer whereby GRPR-expression is associated to tumor vasculature.24,25 In view of the above, much effort has been directed to the development of GRPR-seeking peptide radioligands.26–28
Neuromedin: An insight into its types, receptors and therapeutic opportunities
2017, Pharmacological ReportsCitation Excerpt :GRP causes secretion of various peptides pancreatic polypeptide, enteroglucan, pancreatic glucagon, motilin, vasoactive intestinal peptide and insulin and thus plays an important role in glucose homeostasis NMB on the other hand only causes hyperglycemia [48–50]. GRP has played an important role in circadian rhythm through the suprachiasmatic nucleus [51]. NMB on the other hand as pruritogenic properties NMB is also responsible for local flare and wheal [52].
Interaction of bombesin and its fragments with gold nanoparticles analyzed using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy
2017, Spectrochimica Acta - Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular SpectroscopyCitation Excerpt :Although these amino acids contribute to the selectivity of the peptide for one or the other bombesin receptors [45]. For BN-GPCRs the heptapeptide (BN8–14) has been shown to be the minimal carboxyl fragment interacting with the receptor or causing biologic activity, while nanopeptide (BN6–14) is the minimal required for full affinity [46–47]. Above facts reflect a tendency to a possible BN/receptor interaction through the C-terminal peptide end and formation of an antiparallel β-sheet structure with a turn at position 10–13 of BN and hydrogen bonds existing between the amide of Leu14 and CO of Trp8, CO of Leu13 and NH of Val10, and between NH of Leu13 and CO Val10 (Fig. 1) [48–51].
