Bicuculline inhibits the action of imipramine in the learned helplessness model, a fact which is consistent with the altered regulation of GABAA receptor expression and function during PWD [71]. In this context, it is interesting that modulation of GABA interneurons can occur via 5-HT1A, 5-HT3, and possibly also 5-HT7 receptors [72–79], which may also indicate the importance of these receptors in lowered mood.
