Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase-1 (PARP-1) and its therapeutic implications
2010, Vascular PharmacologyCitation Excerpt :DNA damage sensor like PARP-1 is reported to play a central role in facilitating HIV integration (Ariumi et al., 2005; Kameoka et al., 2004). Independent studies showed that benzopyrone derivatives, trisubstitued benzamides and nicotinamide have potent antiviral effect (Cole et al., 1991, Kameoka et al., 1999). Other studies that used three different PARP inhibitory approaches like chemical inhibition, and antisense and dominant negative inhibition also reported similar observations (Kameoka et al., 2005a; Yamagoe et al., 1991).
