2022, Neuroscience and Biobehavioral ReviewsCitation Excerpt :When we started our vole research there was already evidence that sexual behavior was associated with the release of oxytocin into blood. This had been reported in several species, including male rats and rabbits and male and female humans (Carter, 1992). Our partner preference paradigm revealed that exogenous oxytocin, injected into the ventricles of the brain, could facilitate selective social behavior in both male and female prairie voles.
