2013, Journal of Biological ChemistryCitation Excerpt :A general property of GPCR signaling is that with continuous or repeated agonist stimulation, GPCR activity wanes. This regulatory process is called desensitization (4). Phosphorylation of activated receptors by GPCR kinases (GRKs) in the third intracellular loop and the C-terminal domain plays a major role as an early regulatory event in GPCR desensitization.
