5-HT and α-m-5-HT attenuate excitatory synaptic transmissions onto the lateral amygdala principal neurons via presynaptic 5-HT<inf>1B</inf> receptors
2022, Biochemical and Biophysical Research CommunicationsCitation Excerpt :The basolateral amygdaloid (BLA) complex, composed of the lateral amygdala (LA) and basolateral amygdala (BL), plays critical roles in defensive behaviors [1]. The LA and BL receive serotonergic (5-HT) innervation from the dorsal raphe nucleus (DR) [2,3]. The 5-HT neurons in the DR respond to various emotional stimuli [4–6] and increase -HT release in the amygdala during stress, anxiety, and fear [7–9].

2020, Neuroscience ResearchCitation Excerpt :Apparently, the EAPs in DR were relatively homogeneous. Based on the histological reports (Hubbard and Di Carlo, 1974; Baker et al., 1991; Hornung, 2003; Yasufuku-Takano et al., 2008; Azmitia and Segal, 1978; Baker et al., 1991; Ma et al., 1991), the many of EAPs recorded from DR were discharged from putative serotonergic neurons. To verify the waveform criterion widely used, we compared the duration of the crests and the troughs in EAPs between DR and OFC.
